Rikesh Gurung is a pioneering Bhutanese entrepreneur and the founder of The Green Road, established in 2014. With a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, he has been at the forefront of transforming Bhutan’s waste management and road construction landscape through innovative circular economy solutions. Under his leadership, The Green Road has blacktopped over 163 km of roads across Bhutan while reusing more than 900 tons of waste plastic, setting a nationally recognised model for environmentally responsible infrastructure. Rikesh served as the first President of the Bhutan Association of Entrepreneurs from 2019 to 2023, championing entrepreneurship development and private-sector engagement in national policy discourse. His work has earned him the Best Entrepreneur of Bhutan Award (2017) along with multiple regional and international recognitions for innovation and impact. Beyond his enterprise, Rikesh contributes to national development by serving on the boards of various civil society organisations and state-owned enterprises, reinforcing his commitment to community leadership, sustainability, and inclusive economic growth.
