Joshua Christopher Chandra believes the quickest way to save a forest is to give people something better to build with. He co-founded Plana (PT Peduli Alam Nusantara), where he is Chief of Sustainability & Relations. For six years he has proved that what Indonesia throws away, rice husk burned in the fields and plastic waste no one wants, can be rebuilt into a material strong, durable and aesthetic to build a home with. He works at both ends of that chain: the farmers and collectors who supply it, and the architects and developers who choose what to build with.
