With a strong interest in sustainability and technology, Shi Zhou has been involved in sustainability-related projects since 2016. Having started his involvement as the president of Temasek Polytechnic Green Interest Group, Shi Zhou served as the vice president of NTU Clean Energy Club, and the president of Earthlink NTU before co-founding and serving as the inaugural co-chairperson of the Inter-University Environmental Coalition (IUEC). Outside of school, Shi Zhou volunteers for a multitude of organizations, holding leadership appointments in local, regional, and global youth-led environmental sustainability organizations such as ECO Singapore, Asian Environmental Youth Network, and YOUNGO. Shi Zhou also spends time exploring the different sectors, having worked on sustainability-related work in academia such as Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute, EcoLabs Centre of Innovation for Energy, and corporates such as Xylem and Razer. On the side, Shi Zhou dabbles in entrepreneurial projects and served as the materials consultant for the National Day Parade in 2021 and 2022. His work in sustainability was recognized and awarded with accolades including the HSBC/NYAA Youth Environmental Award (Merit) in 2017, the Northeast District Environment Award (Individuals) in 2019, the Eco-Business A-List Youth 2022, and the Common Purpose 25Under25 Global Legacy Award 2023. Shi Zhou is a final year undergraduate reading a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering. He is also equipped with a Diploma in Chemical Engineering and a Specialist Diploma in Environment & Water Technology, and he is currently pursuing accreditations in environmental & corporate sustainability.
