Environmental challenge

Karma Lakelands addresses the environmental challenges of waste management, water conservation and biodiversity through community engagement. The project promotes responsible living by minimising single-use products, enhancing green spaces and encouraging respect for natural resources like soil, water and air.

Purpose and strategy

Karma Lakelands operates five distinct revenue-generating units: a nine-hole golf course, residences and apartments, suites and cottages, food and beverages and events and conferences. Central to its mission is the Karma Lakelands Sustainability Practices (KLSP) Project, which aims to inspire employees, residents and guests to adopt more sustainable lifestyles.

The KLSP Project focuses on four key pillars: afforestation, zero waste, water conservation and permaculture farming. By integrating these sustainable practices across all business units, KLSP not only enhances the value of Karma Lakelands Golf Resort and Residences but also fosters a community committed to environmental responsibility.

The project embodies the resort's core values—respect for nature, inclusivity, integrity and customer delight. KLSP extends these values throughout the resort's diverse operations, including golf, hospitality, food services and event management, ensuring that sustainability is woven into every facet of the experience. This holistic approach reinforces the resort’s commitment to ecological stewardship and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Impact and innovation

At Karma Lakelands, sustainability is a driving passion that infuses every aspect of its 270-acre campus. Over 200,000 trees representing more than 50 different species are across the campus, where 72% of the area is green space.

Among its notable efforts, 15,907 trees and 2,295 shrubs have been planted and the on-site nursery produces 8% of the total food consumed within the community.

Water conservation is also a key focus, with 43% of the water needs for golf course irrigation met by the STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) water sourced from nearby residential areas and municipal authorities. This practice fosters symbiotic relationships with neighbouring societies such as Monsoon Breeze, McDonald’s, GMDA and DLF Primus by treating and reusing their wastewater, thereby extending Karma Lakelands' sustainability efforts and positively impacting the local community by reducing overall environmental stress and alleviating pressure on local water resources.

Future outlook

Looking ahead, Karma Lakelands has ambitious plans to expand its sustainability efforts. The development of the Aranya Eco-Luxe Residences, a 31-acre luxury apartment project in partnership with Sobha Developers, is expected to generate $10 million in monthly surplus over the next seven years. The project is designed to uphold the same eco-conscious values that Karma Lakelands embodies, with sustainable practices integrated into every aspect of development. In collaboration with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Karma Lakelands is also working towards becoming a carbon net-neutral resort.
