B1G1 is helping small and medium-sized businesses turn everyday transactions into acts of impact—creating over 381 million measurable changes worldwide.

Challenge

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make up the majority of the world’s businesses, yet they are often left out of global impact conversations. Unlike multinationals, they rarely have the resources to build social impact teams or launch high-profile sustainability initiatives. Their giving tends to be ad hoc, disconnected from business activity, and difficult to measure. At the same time, rising inequality, climate pressures, and employee disengagement are pushing companies to find more meaningful ways to connect their daily work to a greater purpose. The challenge is clear: how can everyday businesses— the real engine of the global economy—create lasting, measurable impact without slowing their growth?

Solution

B1G1, a social enterprise and certified B Corp, was founded to answer that question. It enables businesses to integrate giving seamlessly into their everyday operations, turning routine activities into opportunities for impact. A new client signed, a product sold, a project completed — each action can be linked to a micro-contribution towards vetted global projects, all at the cost of just a few pence.

These projects span health, education, the environment and economic empowerment, carefully screened for transparency and measurable outcomes. Through B1G1’s Movement model, businesses not only give but also become part of a global community of like-minded peers, learning how to embed impact more deeply into their strategies and cultures. Rather than viewing giving as charity or compliance, members come to see it as a driver of business resilience, team engagement and long-term brand value.

Since its inception, B1G1 has partnered with over 4,000 businesses in 48 countries.

Impact

Together, they have created more than 381 million measurable impacts across over 450 projects, ranging from clean water and healthcare to micro-loans and ecosystem restoration. Between October 2022 and October 2024 alone, members collectively provided millions of days of access to life-saving water, planted nearly one million trees, delivered more than 20 million days of quality education, supported over 43,000 women entrepreneurs with micro-loans and business training, and protected more than half a million square metres of forest.

The B1G1 model has also transformed business culture. For small businesses, it has made impact accessible, measurable and proudly shareable with teams and clients. For larger enterprises, it has provided a way to engage employees more meaningfully by linking their daily work to global good. The sense of interdependence created through B1G1’s ecosystem turns isolated acts of giving into a collective movement, proving that SMEs, when connected, can rival the reach of multinationals in shaping a better future.

Technologically, the solution sets new standards by going beyond compliance. It eliminates emissions entirely, requires no water, and uses safe, abundant materials. Its precision temperature control, smart optimisation, and advanced insulation make it more efficient than traditional thermal storage systems. These qualities, combined with a modular design, make the technology highly replicable across borders and sectors.

Future outlook

B1G1’s long-term vision is to create “a world full of giving.”

By 2027, it aims to double its membership base and reach 500 million measurable impacts. The next phase will focus on scaling with larger enterprises, introducing enhanced onboarding and strategic support to integrate impact more deeply across teams. For small businesses, a more self-serve model will keep the platform accessible while improving efficiency.

Financially, the B1G1 movement is designed for sustainability, powered transparently by membership subscriptions rather than donations. As its ecosystem grows, so too does the diversity of vetted projects that businesses can support, expanding opportunities for collective impact. By making giving effortless, transparent and culturally embedded, B1G1 is redefining what it means to run not just a business, but a business for good. In a world where every action has a consequence, it ensures that every action can also make a difference.
